Health Instruction and Fitness Training in West Yorkshire.
I’ve always been a bit of a thrill seeker and adrenaline junkie, but it wasn’t until 2001 that I started taking my health and fitness really seriously.
After meeting and marrying my amazing wife, Vanessa, I decided to make some positive lifestyle changes. I started with a simple goal: to get healthier and feel better about myself. We had our first child together on the way and had just moved into our new home in Clifton, Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
With a cheap, entry-level mountain bike and a lot of determination, I began exploring the trails around our new home and uncovered a fabulous world of muddy trails, bridleways, steep climbs and hair-raising descents. Week on week, I ventured further and further with every ride and got faster and fitter. I had ignited the flames of passion for endurance sports, and my journey took off from there………
…….Over the years, I progressed and tackled mountain bike and cyclocross races, road cycling sportives, and multiple charity rides, including challenges in the the Swiss Alps and Dutch flatlands for Street Child and two London to Paris rides to raise money for Action Medical Research and premature babies, a charity close to my heart as my son, Oliver was born premature and spent some time in an incubator.
My fitness journey didn’t stop there. In 2019, I added running and swimming to my repertoire, and I’ve since completed numerous half and full marathons, and triathlons, including the full Ironman Wales in 2023 – swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and running a full 26.2 mile marathon – all in the one day.
As a triathlete, I’ve now qualified to represent Team GB at the Standard/Olympic Distance Triathlon World Championships in Wollongong, Australia in 2025, something I am super proud of.
Throughout my journey, I’ve always prioritised strength and conditioning training particularly my core. I believe that a well-rounded fitness routine and strong body is essential for long-term success. I’ve also learned the importance of fuelling my body with healthy foods.
After a long and successful career in international sales, I decided to take the plunge, exit the corporate rat race, and turn my years of experience and learnings as an enthusiastic amateur athlete into formal qualifications, gain the requisite certifications and become a personal trainer and coach.
In a world that is getting more populous and unhealthy; that’s becoming overrun with junk food, passive entertainment and industries that peddle sugar to our children, I want to spend the rest of my working life sharing my knowledge, experience and passion for fitness with others and encourage and help them to improve their diets, get more active, have some fun (that doesn’t revolve around staring at a screen), and set and achieve some lofty goals…….
Steve Sears, Owner & SHIFT Founder
……In 2024, I founded SHIFT Health Instruction and Fitness Training, dedicated to helping people become the best versions of themselves.
My journey has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned that with hard work, dedication, and the support of my family, pretty much anything is possible.
I’m still excited to continue my own development and help others like you along the way. Don’t worry if you’re one of those people who struggles to find motivation, one important lesson I have learned is that motivation comes and goes but discipline and consistency trump it every time.
I will help you turn up when you least want to and push you to produce results you may not think are achievable, have some great fun, inspire those around you and ultimately enable you to explore your physical boundaries and live life to your potential.
If you really want it – I’ll help you get it!
First things first – I don’t bite, so get in touch now for a no obligation chat to see if and how I can help you….
